It’s World Eczema Day and We’re Marking it by Empowering Families

This September 14 is World Atopic Eczema Day (WAED), a time to raise awareness about this chronic skin condition that affects mostly children.

For many families, the journey of managing eczema can be overwhelming, filled with sleepless nights, endless itching, and a quest for answers that often seem elusive. But this WAED, we are here to let you know that you are not alone and Global Parents for Eczema Research (GPER) has new resources to help you with the journey towards wellness for your child (and for you).

World Atopic Eczema Day is an international day to highlight the challenges of eczema and to share resources for addressing it. At GPER it’s part of our mission is to connect parents with each other and with valuable, science-based tools that can make a real difference in their children’s lives. This year, we’re excited to highlight two key resources designed specifically for parents: the Eczhale Wellness Hub and the GPER Caregiver app.

Eczhale: A Breath of Fresh Air for Parents of Children with Eczema

Eczhale is our dedicated hub for parents looking for reliable, research-based information about childhood eczema and resources for self care and support. Here’s what you’ll find on Eczhale:

  • Expert advice from doctors who specialize in atopic dermatitis.

  • Coping strategies to support not only your child’s physical health but their emotional well-being as well.

  • Stress reduction tools for parents, too.

  • Resources for getting better sleep.

Whether you’re dealing with the initial diagnosis or navigating a severe flare-up, Eczhale is a breath of fresh air for parents looking for answers and support.

The GPER Caregiver App: Support at Your Fingertips

In addition to Eczhale, we’re proud to offer the GPER app (gper.app), designed to provide parents with easy access to essential tools and resources right from their smartphone. The app is user-friendly and packed with features that make managing your child’s eczema a bit easier, including:

- Symptom tracking: Keep a daily log of your child’s symptoms to identify potential triggers and monitor treatment effectiveness.

- Mindfulness Meditations: Use these anytime, anywhere to help with eczema-related anxiety, stress or other challenges.

- Hacks and tips to help control itch.

The GPER app is a powerful tool for parents who need support on the go—whenever and wherever they need it.

Raising awareness about atopic eczema is crucial because this condition is often misunderstood. Many people don’t realize the profound impact it can have on a child’s quality of life—and by extension, on the entire family. World Atopic Eczema Day is our chance to shine a spotlight on these challenges, advocate for better treatment options, and let parents know that they are not alone.

We invite you to try out these new resources this WAED and to connect with us, your community of parents united to tackle any challenge that eczema brings.
