GPER’s 2024 Annual Research Symposium

October 24th, 10:30am - 12pm MST

Join us for our 2024 Research Symposium focused on the intersection between gut health and skin health. Held immediately prior to the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA) annual meeting, this event will explore how the integrity of the gut barrier and the diversity of microbes that live there can influence inflammatory skin diseases, especially atopic dermatitis (or “eczema”). The format will be interactive with opportunities for Q&A and a facilitated discussion.

Our symposium talks this year include…

  1. “Precision microbial therapeutics for atopic dermatitis prevention,” Nikole Kimes, PhD, Founder and CEO of Siolta Therapeutics.

  2. “The role of food additives in gut epithelial barrier damage and subsequent development of atopic conditions,” Cezmi Akdis, MD, PhD, Director of the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF) and Editor of the journal Allergy.

  3. “Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) for the treatment and prevention of allergy and atopic dermatitis,” Rima Rachid, MD, Director of Allergen Immunotherapy, Allergy and Asthma Program Boston Children’s Hospital; Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School

  4. “Does oral antibiotic use in early life contribute to atopic dermatitis risk and can avoidance prevent it?” David Margolis, MD, PhD, Gerald S. Lazarus Professor of Dermatology and Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
